Understanding the Brain
My goal with Your Brain Explained is to make Autism, ADHD and Dementia conditions easier to understand. Whether you're a parent, caregiver, educator, or someone seeking answers for yourself, knowledge is often the first step toward empowerment.
Autism Spectrum Disorder (ASD)
Autism is a neurodevelopmental condition that affects how a person experiences, understands, and interacts with the world around them. Autism can influence communication, social interaction, sensory processing, routines, interests, and daily functioning. Every autistic individual is unique, with their own strengths, challenges, and ways of experiencing life.
Attention-Deficit/Hyperactivity Disorder (ADHD)
ADHD is a neurodevelopmental condition that affects attention, executive functioning, organization, impulse control, and emotional regulation. ADHD is much more than simply being distracted or hyperactive—it influences how the brain manages information, plans tasks, prioritizes responsibilities, and regulates focus.
Dementia
Dementia is an umbrella term used to describe a group of conditions that affect memory, thinking, reasoning, and daily functioning. Dementia is not a normal part of aging. It can impact communication, behavior, independence, and relationships, creating unique challenges for both individuals and caregivers.
Learn More
My Book: A Brain Like Mine offers an accessible introduction to autism and ADHD, helping readers better understand the autistic experience through education, insight, and real-world examples. This book was created based off my experiences as neurodivergent woman, raising two neurodivergent children.
My Book: The Dementia Care Journey was created to help caregivers, families, and loved ones better understand dementia while providing practical tools, guidance, and support throughout the caregiving process. This book was created to be an educational guide. I mixed my nursing experience with real life advice as I care for my own Nana with dementia.
